Corey's Adventures in Istanbul

As Corey continues her trip halfway around the world to Paris and now Istanbul, we find ourselves living vicariously through her beautiful instagrams and wishing we traveling as well. Here are a few of our most recent favorites from the colorful Istanbul, Turkey.

Shoes and textiles in Istanbul

Sparkles, sequins, and glitter—streetsyle in Istanbul.

Art in Istanbul, “Suicide is painless”, and a sunset over the city.

The Trees in China's Crosswalks

This summer, environmentalists of the China Environmental Protection Foundation took their fight for the environment to the streets–literally. “Stemming” from the idea of Jody Xiong, the intent was to encourage people to walk more and end result was really quite brilliant.

“The campaign involved laying a canvas 12.6 metres long by 7 metres wide on the ground, thus covering the pedestrian crossing with a large leafless tree.”

“On either side of the road, beneath the traffic lights, were placed sponge cushions soaked in green, environmentally friendly, washable paint.”

“As pedestrians walked towards the crossing, they stepped on the green sponge, thus leaving green foot imprints on the canvas of the tree.”

“Each ‘green’ footprint on the canvas looked like leaves growing on a bare tree, which made people feel that by walking they could create a greener environment.”

A green, leafy tree was the final product that was eventually hung on billboards in urban locations to promote the campaign.

It's estimated that nearly 3,920,000 people left their footprints on the installations. Pretty crazy. I definitely feel inspired to go for a walk.

Intern Diaries: Laurel Hardware

There is no shortage of trendy restaurants in West Hollywood but I can't deny that I wasn't extremely excited when I heard about a new restaurant/bar opening less than a mile from my apartment. Laurel Hardware opened just a few weeks ago under the same name of an actual hardware store that used to be at the same location. The front area is a small restaurant with tables and full length windows that opens up into an expansive bar once you turn the corner behind the kitchen.

There is even a patio area once you walk through the bar twinkly lights in the trees and tons of good looking people drinking and talking.

Whether you're a beer drinker (I highly recommend Magic Hat if so) or a cocktail drinker, you will definitely find something that you like on the menu.

I'm more of a beer drinker but if you prefer a cocktail the “Gangster” is pretty tastey. Don't forget to try the food, which is also extremely delicious. The small plates are perfect for sharing if you go with friends. It's definitely a swanky place with good food and good people so if you're in the area give it a try!
