Intern Diaries: Beach From Above

I'm so excited about this post because I pretty much spent my first 20 years of life on a beach on the east coast. Now I live in LA and I rarely find time to go to the beach (ironically I live even closer to the beach now than I did growing up). This past weekend was even my first trip to Malibu's Paradise Cove after almost five years of living here if you can believe it.

These photos were taking by the talented photographer Gray Malin who I heard of through a friend and, after an amount of googling, found this series entitled “A la Plage, A la Piscine”. Flying over beaches everywhere from the U.S. to Australia, Malin captured these photos while shooting from a doorless helicopter to create “visual celebration of color, light, shape and summer bliss”.

Can you guess what beach is shown in each photograph?

I've officially added about half of these places to my bucket list.

Until next time.

Just in case you couldn't guess: 1. Carribbean Beach Resort 2. Malibu 3. Manhattan Beach 3. Rio de Janiero 4. Nude Beach in San Francisco 5. Secret Beach, St. Tropez 6. South Hampton 7. Venice Beach

Intern Diaries

I often wish I could draw more than just stick figures but I have come to accept that fact that I just am simply not an artist. This realization does, however, make me appreciate illustrators even more. Recently I discovered Manhattan-based blogger and cartoonist Joana Avillez. Avillez created illustrations of some of the most recognizable names in fashion emphasizing attributes that those people are known for. Here's a few of my favorites:

I look for him without fail everytime I go to NYC. He is simply amazing. If you haven't seen his documentary, I highly recommend it.

One of my style icons.

More here.

Until next time.
