Even though we were officially in New York City for work, we did get to enjoy some great restaurants, yummy cocktails and of course shopping. Here are some highlights from the trip.

ABC Kitchen certainly did not disappoint, the interior was cozy and beautiful (you can also buy anything in the restaurant from a dining table to the delicate tea cups). It was a great crowd and even better dinner company, I highly recommend the salted caramel sundae, it was a big hit at the table :)

Afterwards we headed to the bar at the Jane Hotel, a quaint and lovely spot that feels like old New York

Shana and myself mugging for the camera

Loved the rhino at the bar

and the giant disco ball in the main room

One of my oldest friends Ariana joined us looking stylish as ever in her CLC cat print dress

Although I did a fair amount of shopping I am particularly excited about these All Saints wedges

And of course Shana scored the hottest of pink bow shoes, you should have seen the smile on her face when she spotted these :)

Our last night was spent at Hotel Griffou under the suggestion of the lovely Jen Ford from Lucky who joined us for some girl talk and a delicious dinner and their specialty cocktail list is amazing!

Now back in LA it is time to put the credit card away and head back to pilates :)

CLC Trunk Show At Dear Fieldbinder

Here are a few snaps from the CLC trunk show at Dear Fieldbinder last week in Brooklyn

Here is a pic of Corey (in a CLC bow cardigan) after successfully hailing a cab during off duty hours to Brooklyn. It was our cab drivers first week and we had to give him directions to Brooklyn but he got us there in one piece and was a sweetheart.

This is the great display that Dear Fieldbinder co-owner Brett made for the event packed full with CLC Fall merchandise

It is all in the details

The Meg Faux Wrap Dress in this print is a Dear Fieldbinder exclusive

Dear Fieldbinder's Kelsey in a CLC Alyssa Snap Tunic Dress

Corey and CLC fan Amy (in CLC floral pants)

Thank you Lara and Brett for a great event!

Just Patti

A few months ago I read my 1st book on my ipad. I''m still trying to figure out why anyone needs the ipad but that's just me. The selection was not so great on itunes but had been meaning to pick up a copy of the Patti Smith book and there it was. the book, Just Kids, chronicles the unique and inspiring relationship of the singer/songwriter  and artist/photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. I have always been a big Patti Smith fan but I was less less familiar with the life and career of Mapplethorpe. There we're a few images (like the ones below) that I associated with his work but that was the extent of it.

Patti and Robert shared and intense and tumultuous relationship all the while working on their art careers. While living at the famed Chelsea hotel for a long stint, Patti of course became know for her unique contribution to the early years of the NY punk rock scene. Mixing beat poetry with her haunting voice and raw guitars. her debut album was Horses, which in an astonishing accomplishment, it continues to be one of the most played albums in my collection. The iconic fashion image on the album's cover was taken by Mapplethorpe, one of the many images he took of his muse Patti.
Their relationship was truly unique and one in which great art and music was created. even as they struggled through illness, poverty and Robert's sexuality they remained friends until Robert's death in 1989 from AIDS.
I have a become a true fan of Robert Mapplethorpe's work and even a bigger fan of Patti Smith.
Check out Patti in this short interview/live performance of horses from 1972
Patti Smith, Because The Night

take me now baby here as I am
pull me close, try and understand
desire is hunger is the fire I breathe
love is a banquet on which we feed

come on now try and understand
the way I feel when I'm in your hands
take my hand come undercover
they can't hurt you now

A Peek Inside The CLC NYC Spring Preview

Well, well, well…it is was a whirlwind trip to New York city last week with loads of fun, friends, eating, shopping and of course fashion. Besides all of the fun we had catching up with our favorite editors and bloggers, we were there to preview the CLC Spring 2011 collection

We showed the collection at Point A Showroom where we created our own little CLC world, we will not show you the photos of the colorful cupcakes and sugar cookies we consumed all day :)

Julie Chen from The Pleat stopped by and we had to snap a photo of her outfit. Corey thought she looked so chic pairing a leather skirt with an oversized cardigan and socks with lace up booties.

The sun setting on a gorgeous brisk NYC day, time to break open the Cava!

Check back for more of our NYC trip this week!
